Hi again Everyone!
I’m thrilled to (re-) announce that Prof. Simon Haines will be launching my new book Australia’s Universities: Can They Reform? this week at Sydney’s Centre for Independent Studies:
The event is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30. Tickets are still available (I think) and I hope to see many of you there. Thanks especially to Prof. Haines, CEO of the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation, for launching the book.
Also hot off the presses (today!) is my latest CIS paper, “Expand University Places without Blowing Out Budgets: The 1/1 Policy for Undergraduate Reform”:
The paper builds on arguments from the book, using additional data to analyze the high costs and low utility of double-degree courses. The paper was covered prominently in today’s Australian by education editor Tim Dodd:
My sincere thanks to him for taking my work so seriously!
And finally, let me remind everyone that much of my best writing is published by Quadrant magazine:
If you haven’t read Quadrant recently, I hope you’ll pick up a copy and give it a try. My humor column “The Philistine” appears at the front of every issue, and in between issues I write additional articles for Quadrant Online. Please do consider subscribing, but even if you’re not ready to make that commitment, stop by your local newsstand (if you’re in Australia) and check out the April issue later this week.
